Got a call from this number, telling about my hdfc credit card. It is not fake.
Since people have been getting calls from this number for so long, I'm guessing it's legit since it's a landline and can be traced back with an FIR. It looks like a Chennai Tata number.
It seems that these calls are only being made to HDFC customers either after using a card online or just before a fraudulent transaction, which creates a doubt in my mind that it might be a legitimate number calling to verify. It would be great if HDFC would clarify.
Also I got a call from this number at 11 about a transaction and I hung up. Next minute my account was wiped out in 3 transactions via an ATM. I didn't give any info to the person calling, but it looks like it is HDFC bank's fraud detection division. I've got an FIR filed and I will ask the cops if they can verify that number once and for all.
